BOSTON — Massachusetts Treasurer Deb Goldberg says she remembers the botched rollout of medical marijuana and, if voters approve legalization altogether, it has to be done right.

Goldberg told FOX25 Political Reporter Sharman Sacchetti the state will need millions to get regulations in place and up and running.

The job of regulating and appointing members to the cannabis control commission, creating a new state agency, will fall to her.

Some of Goldberg's concerns are the timing it would take to get regulations in place and where the money will come from.

Goldberg is one of many Massachusetts politicians that has gone on the record opposing the ballot question, but she says it won't affect her ability to do her job.

She said the state will not get any money until the first license application fee is received and that wouldn't be until the fall of 2017.
