REVERE, Mass. — Multiple shots were fired at the annual Revere Carnival Sunday night.

The incident happened about 8:45 p.m. The Revere Carnival is set up in the parking lot of Showcase Cinemas. This was the last night of the carnival.

So far, police said there are no victims.  Police confirmed there are looking for multiple suspects.

People on social media said it was chaos at the scene as people fled the area. The carnival and Showcase Cinema is off Squire Road in Revere off Route 1.

Several shell casings were found in the area and vehicles were hit by the gunfire. They were towed from the scene shortly after 10 p.m.

People inside the Showcase Cinemas said employees ran into the theaters telling people to take cover because there was a shooter outside.

"Everybody started to panic and rushed back from the doors and basically towards the end of the theater or the top of the seats or towards the exit. But nobody left because of the alarms... and thinking what might be on the other side as well," said Moises, who was in the theater at the time.

Witnesses said they all took cover, and then shortly after heavily armed officers searched the entire movie theater for the shooter, suspecting the suspects might have run in.

While the investigation continued outside, people at the movie theater told FOX25 they were kept inside.

"We were sitting there watching a movie, and all of a sudden people started flood in...it was pretty scary. My worst nightmare," said one woman who was at the theater.

When they were allowed to leave, they had to walk up with their hands up as police watched them. People were also frisked.

Officers are still on scene processing information and said they would release more information as soon as they could.
