TYNGSBOROUGH, Mass. — Police in Tyngsborough are investigating the theft of several weapons from a gun shop in town.
Police say on their Facebook page that they responded to an alarm at Hitman Firearms at about 3:30 a.m. Monday.
Upon arrival, officers found the front door smashed in and the interior metal door damaged.
The building was searched and secured but no one was found inside. Police say four firearms were stolen.
“The method that was used- they were very quick. we believe they have done this before,” Tyngsborough Police Chief Rich Howe said.
The shop is owned by Tyngsborough patrol officer Dan Whitman, who has been a member of the force for three years.
Howe told FOX25 that there is no conflict of interest because the police department doesn't do business with the shop.
Police told FOX25's Stephanie Coueignoux that this may be connected to a similar incident in Hooksett, N.H.
“Similar circumstances. Similar time of day. Same number of guns stolen. We have reason to believe they are linked,” Howe said.
Anyone with any information about the theft is asked to call police.
