20-year-old motorcyclist dies in crash involving school bus in Westford

WESTFORD, Mass. — A 20-year-old motorcyclist has died after being involved in a serious crash with a school bus in Westford.

In a news release, the superintendent of schools for the Acton/Boxborough school district said the bus was transporting members of the Junior High School athletic team when it collided with the motorcycle.

The crash happened on West Street in Westford right outside of Blanchard Middle School.

The bus driver has been placed on leave pending an investigation conducted by the Massachusetts State Police and the Westford Police.

While all the students and staff aboard the bus are safe, the operator of the motorcycle was pronounced dead. The victim has not been identified at this time.

According to the superintendent, the school has been in communication with the families and the students who were on the bus at the time of the crash and will be providing counseling and support services to both students and staff.
