NEEDHAM, Mass. — A local mother is turning tragedy into a way of honoring her daughter's memory.
The mother of Olivia Bergstrom, the 20-year-old Holliston native killed at her Needham apartment, spoke to Boston 25 News about her daughter's death.
Kirsten Bergstrom, along with family and friends, is still mourning the loss of her beloved daughter -- who was killed by her boyfriend two months ago.

"She never did anything halfway, she put her whole heart into whatever her passion was," said Kirsten.
Prosecutors said Benjamin Walsh, 24, killed Bergstrom at their Needham apartment and then stabbed both his parents at a restaurant in Millis. He pleaded not guilty to a murder charge.
Kirsten said she is heartbroken and doesn't want Olivia's memory to fade, which is why the family has set up a fund to help students from her high school pursue their dreams.
She told Boston 25 News that one of Olivia's passions was horses. The family asked donations to be made to the Equine Rescue Network after her death, but didn't stop there.

"We decided we wanted to do more, so doing a scholarship just gives us that opportunity to have something every year that we have to look forward to," said Kirsten.
Kirsten is currently going through the first wave of scholarship applications.
While Walsh is due back in court next month, Kirsten is focused on her daughter's memory above all else.
"I'm really not involved at this point, it's not really something at this point that I'm [thinking] too much of," said Kirsten.
Friends have put together a scholarship fundraiser set for May 10 in Holliston at the Asa Whiting Barn in Holliston. Tickets can be purchased on Eventbrite here.
Organizers said all the money raised goes to the Olivia Berit Bergstrom Scholarship award.
