Red Sox third baseman Pablo Sandoval left Tuesday's game against the Texas Rangers in the 7th inning after being hit by a pitch on the left leg.
Sandoval was batting right-handed against Texas reliever Sam Freeman when he was struck. He immediately went to the ground and was tended to by the Red Sox training staff. Sandoval ultimately had to be helped to the dugout.
Television replays indicated the ball struck Sandoval around the left knee and sounded like the pitch struck a bone.
Brock Holt replaced Sandoval in the lineup.
After Tuesday's game, manager John Farrell said there was no structural damage in Sandoval's leg, but he was sore and will deal with the soreness for a bit.
