HAMPTON, N.H. — Hampton Beach was turned into a canvas covered with transient works of art this week.
The 16th annual Hampton Beach Master Sand Sculpting Classic kicked off Wednesday as 200 tons of imported sand was dropped on the beach.

The sand was molded into giant sculptures, which will be lit up for viewing at night through July 6.
Greg Grady and "The Grady Bunch" sculpted a giant Sand Demo site, part of the larger display of works.
The contest will run June 16-18.
