BOSTON — Commuters are frustrated by train issues just as a major construction project is set to begin on the Tobin Bridge.

On Tuesday morning, a train on the Rockport line derailed at a low speed on its way into Boston, causing multiple delays for commuters.

At around 7 a.m. Tuesday, Rockport Train 102 (5:48 a.m. from Rockport) was involved in a low speed, upright derailment near the Sullivan Square station. With the assistance of an alternative locomotive, the train completed its trip to North Station.

Trains on both the Rockport and Haverhill lines were affected by the derailment.

No injuries were reported, but the incident has caused delays in and out of North Station. Approximately 300 passengers were on board at the time.

The Beverly 191 train (7:08 a.m. from North Station) was canceled due to the derailment.

MBTA crews are on scene working to restore service.

"We appreciate our passengers’ patience and apologize for this inconvenience. Passengers traveling today should stay connected to our customer service updates for train information," said a Keolis spokesperson."

For North Shore commuters, the Tobin Bridge project is officially beginning during the Tuesday evening commute, with one lane closed on the northbound side.
