MILLINOCKET, Maine — A 22-year-old Rhode Island man died Saturday afternoon after his snowmobile went off trail and struck a tree.
According to a press release from the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife, his snowmobile was traveling at a high rate of speed in the southern end of Baxter State Park.
The victim was identified as Timothy G. Lagesse of Pascoag, Rhode Island.
The Maine Warden Service, Millinocket Fire Department and a Baxter State Park Ranger responded to the crash.
Lagesse was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders.
