REVERE, Mass. — The Revere Beach International Sand Sculpting Festival will draw lots of crowds this weekend.

Eye-popping sand sculptures will pay tribute to the moon landing and truly amaze. There will be activities for kids, food trucks, live entertainment, amusements and fireworks.

Master sculptors from all over the world are competing and Boston 25's Vanessa Welch will host the awards Saturday night from the main stage.

This is one of the largest free events in Massachusetts. If you plan to go here's what you should know:

  • Take public transportation. Revere Beach is accessible from the Blue Line at Revere Beach station or Wonderland. It's a five-minute walk to the festival.
  • Consider an early morning walk to see the sand-tastic works of art before beach-goers and crowds arrive.
  • North Shore drivers who need to get where there going should use routes 114 and 1, detouring away from the festival.
