REVERE, Mass. -- A robbery suspect was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon after leading police on a car chase, Mass. State Police said.
The robbery occurred at the East Boston Savings Bank on Squire Road in Revere. Police say the suspect made off with about $1,000 in cash.
An off-duty Everett police officer was in the area at the time and notified Revere police about the incident and provided a vehicle and suspect description.
Officers from Revere and Boston found the vehicle in Charlestown. The suspect quickly abandoned the vehicle and took off on foot.
In an effort to avoid driving into the suspect, one Revere police officer was involved in a crash.
Revere Police, assisted by Mass. State Police and Boston Police, located the suspect about 15 minutes later inside a Porta Potty in the parking lot under the I-93 ramp near the T.D. Garden.
The suspect has been identified as 41-year-old Steven Spolidoro of Woburn. Police said they are currently reviewing other bank robberies to see if he could be connected.
One of the robberies police believe he could be connected to include one at East Boston Savings Bank in Everett last Friday
