Residents march for peace after 3 lives lost too soon in Dorchester

DORCHESTER, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Residents gathered Tuesday night to march for peace after three young lives were taken too soon.

Jonathan Dos Santos' mother cried outside of her Dorchester home as the peace rally stopped by to pay their respects.

Rosalin Wornum organized the march and says she's tired of the violence that hit the streets of Dorchester recently, including the shooting death of Dos Santos and hit and run deaths of 8-year-old Yadieliys Deleon and 18-year-old Fritz Philogene.

"My thing is unity in the community," Wornum said. "Peace on our streets. We need to take back our streets. because we're losing a lot of lives.”

All three were honored Tuesday night.

“God we are praying for justice, we are praying for peace,” an attendant said.

Community leaders say teens need jobs to keep them busy.

Boston City Councillor Tito Jackson said, "All of us need to step up and better our community.”

The marchers continued through the streets of Dorchester spreading their message with words and song, hoping for peace.
