LYNN, Mass. — A 31-year-old woman is recovering after being rescued from the bottom of a ravine in the Lynn Woods.

First responders needed to use an array of harnesses and ropes to carefully pull the woman up the 40-foot embankment and onto a rescue ATV.

The disoriented woman, who isn’t being identified, wasn’t able to tell them how long she’d been at the bottom of this embankment or how she ended up there alone.

The area is popular for hikers and people looking to get outside when the weather is nice.

“Most people smart enough go in with someone, do the right thing when you’re in an area as extensive and wild as this place is,” Bill Mullen, the organizer of weekly Lynn Woods Running, said.

Those who rescued her say the woman is lucky that she was spotted by some early morning hikers. Had it not been for their urgent 911 call there’s no telling how much longer she would’ve been in the rugged environment.

Rescuers with the Lynn Fire Department believe the woman had been there for up to 24 hours.

Investigators said the woman’s husband reported she had been missing for more than a day shortly before the 911 call was made.

The woman was taken to Mass General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
