Red Sox closer Hanrahan goes on disabled list

BOSTON (AP) - The Red Sox have placed closer Joel Hanrahan on the disabled list for the second time this season.

Right-hander Allen Webster replaces him on the roster after being recalled from Triple-A Pawtucket.

Hanrahan went on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday with a strained right forearm. He left Monday night's 11-inning, 6-5 win over the Minnesota Twins in the ninth with forearm tightness.

Webster is scheduled to start Wednesday night against Minnesota. In one start with Boston this season, he allowed two earned runs in six innings in a 10-inning, 5-4 loss to Kansas City on April 21.

He was on the DL from April 14-29 with a strained right hamstring. Andrew Bailey replaced him as closer but went on the disabled list before Monday's game with a strained right biceps.
