HOLLISTON, Mass. – The names 'Snapchat spine' and 'Cell Device disk' may not sound serious, but medical experts are warning about the dangers of bad posture due to phone use.
The Holliston PTO hosted a cell phone safety awareness event Tuesday that included a lecture about this exact danger.
“You see it in the streets, you see it everywhere. People have what's called flexion dominant posture,” Dr. Howard Goldberg, a chiropractor, said.
“Taking your hands, clasping them behind your head, bringing your elbows back... and putting a little pressure with your head against your hands,” Goldberg said.
But there are simple exercises and stretches that can be done.
Ten reps each twice a day should help Goldberg said.
Of course, poor posture and sore necks are important consequences of cell phone use, but other things were of even more concern to parents.
