BLACKSTONE, Mass. — An investigation is underway in Blackstone after an explosion occurred outside the home of a local high school principal and damaged his vehicle.
Police were called to the home of Lucas Giguere Thursday evening after the homemade explosive went off and heavily damaged his vehicle.
It appears as if Giguere, the principal at Bellingham High School, was targeted, and police said there's no evidence to suggest it was a random act.
When Blackstone Police arrived the contacted Bellingham police, Woonsocket, Rhode Island police, the Massachusetts State Police Bomb Squad and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives for assistance.
Neighbor Maurice DeBeau told Boston 25 News that when he heard the explosion he ran over to make sure Giguere was OK. DeBeau said that Giguere then said, "finally, they know where I live."

Giguere's Jeep was removed from the scene Friday afternoon. His father Oliver, who lives next door, told Boston 25 News they were both confused about what happened.
“I just heard the bang, boom! Then I ran out,” Oliver Giguere said. “He says, ‘Dad, I can’t believe this. Something’s going on.’”
The school district posted on its Facebook page that there would be additional police presence at the high school Friday and that all classes and activities were proceeding as normal.
A source told Boston 25 News police have been questioning a Rhode Island woman as a person of interest, but no arrest has been announced.
