WASHINGTON — White House press secretary Sean Spicer has resigned.
Spicer told the Associated Press the White House is at a point where Trump "could benefit from a clean slate."
Associated Press sources say Spicer resigned over the hiring of New York financier Anthony Scaramucci as the new White House communications director, a move with which he reportedly disagrees.
Spicer has served in Trump's press office since he was elected.
