LEOMINSTER, Mass. — A Leominster man is on the run after police say he attempted to kidnap a woman at gunpoint at a Hannaford’s supermarket.

According to police, Anton Fowler, 27, held a woman at gunpoint in his car Monday afternoon before letting her out on Short Street.

The kidnapping was reported by a person who knew the victim and followed Fowler's car, according to the report.

Police say after Fowler let the woman out, he also got out and ran off. Officers said they found Fowler in a red Lincoln Navigator with a woman later, but a pursuit of the vehicle was called off in Harvard, Massachusetts.

Police have asked for an arrest warrant for Fowler on kidnapping and assault with a dangerous weapon.
