BOSTON — Boston Police said two Uber drivers were assaulted and robbed by passengers in Jamaica Plain Tuesday night.
Both incidents happened near Centre Street in the Jamaica Plain neighborhood.
According to a report, one driver told police the two passengers were picked up in Dorchester and were supposed to be dropped off on Centre Street. However, the passengers asked to be let out early near the Nurtury Learning Lab on Bickford Street.
The driver told police the passengers, who were 25 to 30-years-old, hit him in the back of the head and took his phone off the dashboard, before getting out of the car and running off.
The driver said the pair “appeared to be ‘drug users.’” The police report says no weapon was used during the robbery.
The Uber driver declined EMS treatment.
In another incident that happened after midnight Tuesday night, police said another Uber driver was robbed by three suspects who were picked up on Parker Street.
The driver told police he was directed to take them to a parking lot on Bickford Street when the suspects put what the driver thought was a gun to their head. The suspects then grabbed his wallet, glasses, cell phone and GPS device before telling the driver they would "come to [the driver's] house and shoot [the driver] and kill [the driver's] family if [the driver] tries anything."
The victim told police the suspects got out of the car and took off on foot. The driver also denied medical attention.
Police say information about who ordered the Uber rides should be available and online documentation could reveal more about the suspects.
Officials with Uber said the suspects have been banned from using the service and are working with police to track them down.
