TEWKSBURY, Mass. — The search is on for the man caught on camera robbing a Tewksbury store at knife point.

That brazen crime happened Friday night at the Route 38 Smoke Shop on Main Street.

It happened around 9 p.m. in a shopping plaza that has a lot of businesses, some still open at the time -- including a sports bar and a Papa Ginos.

A suspect wearing all black walks quickly into the smoke shop. You can see him interacting with the clerk, possibly demanding something, but then the clerk pushes him back. Instead of leaving, the suspect runs behind the counter and grabs something from under it and then runs out of the store.

Police released the surveillance video of what happened inside the smoke shop in the hope that someone might recognize the suspect or know something.

Fortunately, that clerk was not hurt.

Police say the thief was armed with a knife and ran from the scene.  It's unclear what direction that suspect headed and what he got away with.

This shopping plaza is about a mile from 495.
