BROCKTON, Mass. — Police are investigating after a 9-year-old girl riding her bike in Brockton was by a driver who then took off.

The girl was riding on Nilsson Street around 2:15 p.m. when she was clopped by a blue Honda Civic.

“Thankfully someone got the license plate number,” Eddie Brown, whose girlfriend’s niece was the victim.

“But if I was to hit somebody I would definitely stop to see if the kids OK and stay there. You don’t hit a kid and leave,” Brown said.

Police said they identified the vehicle and went to the suspect’s home Wednesday afternoon, but he was not around.

Police said the girl has cuts on her legs from the crash.
