BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Detectives are searching for a person who they say pointed a gun at a Boston Police Officer in Dorchester around 11:45 p.m. Sunday night.
Officials say the BPD officer fired shots in the direction of the suspect after the gun was pointed in the officer's direction. The suspect did not fire at the officer.
Police say the suspect ran off after the shooting. Dozens of officers searched the area where the shooting took place, near Lee Elementary School at Talbot Avenue and Bernard Street.
The suspect's gun was recovered at the scene, but there was no sign of the gunman.
The officer involved in the shooting was taken to the hospital as a precaution.
