Police search for suspect in Bridgewater State sexual assault

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Police are searching for a suspect in the sexual assault of a student on Bridgewater State's campus.

An 18-year-old woman said she was going to meet an unknown man near the Rondileau Campus Center when she was assaulted near the area of the parking garage Monday night.

The victim had been communicating with the man through the social networking app, kik.

"There are apps, you don't even need your cell phone number, it's just a user name. I feel that's even worse, so someone can just make up a fake profile," said Bridgewater State University senior Yadis Lopez.

The suspect was described as a white man, approximately 5-feet, 10-inches tall, older than "college aged," and as having a deep voice.

According to Bridgewater's annual security report published last month, there were five forcible sex offenses on campus last year, up from three the year before.

Anyone with information on the most recent sex assault is urged to contact police at (508) 531-1212.
