WOBURN, Mass. — The SWAT team was part a massive police response at an apartment complex in Woburn Friday night.

Police say they received a call from a man around 7 p.m. reporting that he had killed his mother and it was going to be difficult to get him out of the apartment.

For about an hour the apartment complex was locked down while SWAT officers went door to door checking apartments.

Ultimately police cleared the area and determined that the call was a hoax.

“It’s frustrating to unnecessarily deploy resources when they may be needed somewhere else, but we train for this monthly, bi-weekly in some cases. We’re good to go and these guys have reloaded and they’re good to go again,” Woburn Police Chief Robert Ferullo said.

Ferullo told FOX25 there were other similar hoax calls made across the state Friday night. At this time it’s unclear where the call came from but they are using new technology to track it.
