BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) - Troopers rescued a man after he ran and jumped into the Boston Harbor Saturday, said police.
A pedestrian told a trooper around 1 p.m. that there was a nude man standing near the Steriti Memorial Rink on Commercial Street. Police said when the trooper walked up to the man, he jumped the fence into the baseball field next to the rink. He ran across the outfield, jumped another fence and then jumped into the Boston Harbor.
Polices said troopers and the State Police Marine Unit responded to the man's location, which was about halfway between the Navy Yard and the USCG Base. Troopers pulled the man from the water and into the boat, immediately rending aid for possible hypothermia. While the boat drove to shore, the man allegedly tried to jump back into the water. Police gained control of him, and while continuing aid, the man lost consciousness.
Once back at the State Police Marine Unit, Boston EMS took the man to an area hospital for treatment.
