UXBRIDGE, Mass. — Police in Uxbridge are investigating after a body was found in a Whitin Pond.

Glen Murphy said the body is his son, 33-year-old Patrick Murphy. Glen said his son was homeless after recently being released from prison for heroin possession and had struggled with addiction for years.

“I think he might have did some drugs nodded off hit his head and fell in the water and drowned,” he said,

Glen said he had previously been a heroin addict, but was able to pull himself together a decade ago after serving jail time. He said he always feared his son would die from an overdose, and believes that is exactly what happened.

“My kids are supposed to be here to bury me, I’m not supposed to be here to bury my kids,” Glen Murphy said,

Police have not publicly identified the body, but Glen said he was notified by officers Thursday afternoon. An official cause of death has also not been determined by investigators.

“They said they had a floater then I had a feeling in the back of my neck,” he said. “I feared this for a long, long time.”

An official identification of the body and cause of death will come from the Medical Examiner's Office after an autopsy is conducted.
