Man shot during New Year's Day party in Brockton, police say

A 37-year-old man was shot and wounded at a New Year's Day party, police said.

Emergency crews responded to 970  Montello St. after receiving a report of a person shot around 6 a.m. Tuesday, police said.

As police were arriving, officers saw several people fleeing the scene of a party that was still going on.

Officers found a male gunshot victim inside being treated by paramedics. He was taken to Good Samaritan Medical Center with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening, police said.

The man's condition was not known Tuesday. No arrests have been made.
