Police responded after a body was recovered from a river in Salisbury, according to Salisbury Police Chief Thomas Fowler.
Fowler tweeted Thursday afternoon that Salisbury Police and Massachusetts State Police were investigating after the body was found in the river near the rail trail.
The Essex County District Attorney's Office said police were notified about the body in the water on the Old Eastern Marsh Trail around 3 p.m. Thursday off of Mudnock Road Access by a pedestrian.
Police said the person was believed to be an adult white male, and said they had not been identified yet.

Fowler said there is no danger to the public and the DA's office said investigators do not expect any foul play, but the cause of the incident remains unknown and unver investigation.
