DURHAM, N.H. — Police are investigating death in Durham they have now classified as a homicide.
Officers responded around 1 a.m. to a 911 call regarding a disturbance at a home on Edgewood Road. When officers arrived, they found the body of 22-year-old Michael Barrett of Dover.
An autopsy of Barrett determined that his cause of death was a stab wound. Police believe they have identified all of the parties involved and that there is no threat to the community.
FOX25 spoke with Sophia Marie Cartier, a friend of Barrett's, who said the house Barrett's body was found in is a well known party house. Cartier told FOX25 that Barrett had been there before and described her friend as a "good kid."
"He had a life to live...he was smart, he had potential," Cartier said. "It was all taken away in one night."
Part of the investigation into Barrett's death involves whether the incident involved the use of self-defense.
