NORWOOD, Mass. — Police are investigating a deadly shooting at an apartment complex on Dean Street in Norwood.
The 911 call was made just before 1:40 a.m. Monday from someone who reported hearing either gunshots or fireworks at Stone Bridge Apartments.
Police say 28-year-old Edison Tejeda was killed in the shooting. There were multiple shots fired; investigators are trying to determine how many shots hit the victim.
“Those who knew Edison Tejeda and may have known his movements in the period before his murder can help us piece together what has happened here,” District Attorney Michael W. Morrissey said Monday afternoon.
Police say Tejeda was shot outside, then stumbled up the stairs and into the hallway outside of the apartment he lives in with his mother before collapsing.
Tejeda was pronounced dead at Norwood Hospital.
There have been no arrests so far. The suspect is not believed to be in the area.
Police say they do not believe the shooting was random. They say the shooting is the first homicide in Norwood in around seven years. Anyone with information is asked to call the Norwood Police Department (781) 440-5181.
