Police: Heavily armed homeless man, hostage barricaded inside NH home

MIDDLETON, N.H. (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) — A heavily armed homeless man has reportedly barricaded himself and a female hostage inside a home on Lake Shore Drive in Middleton on Thursday.

Authorities have surrounded the home and a negotiator at the scene made contact with the suspect; however, the suspect has since ceased communication, reports Foster's Daily Democrat.

Police told the newspaper that the incident was reported around 2:10 p.m. when they were alerted a man had broken into his brother's home and stolen multiple guns. There is no family relationship between the suspect and the hostage.

The suspect, who is described as being a 35-year-old male and approximately 6'2" tall and 220 pounds, is known to police.

The suspect is reportedly armed with an automatic AK-47 rifle, a .22 Derringer, a small pistol and a rifle. He is carrying multiple rounds of ammunition.

The area around the home has been evacuated and some of the schools in the area are on lockdown.
