Police: firefighter arrested for stealing fuel from Dudley

Nicholas Rivera

DUDLEY, Mass. — A firefighter has been arrested for stealing fuel from the town of Dudley, according to police.

A Dudley police officer said he found Nicholas Rivera, 27, parked at a Dudley Highway Department fuel station after hours in his personal vehicle Jan. 2.

The officer said Rivera told him he was looking for lost keys.

After investigating the town’s fuel logs, officers say Rivera had been fueling his personal vehicle from the town gas station since September of 2016 – totaling in excess of $1,000 worth of fuel.

Rivera was arrested on Thursday and was allegedly found with access keys to the highway department's fuel station.
Rivera has been held on $250 cash bail.
