MALDEN, Mass. — A dog owner will face charges after Malden Police responded to a home and found disturbing living conditions.
Police were called to the home on Medford Street late Wednesday night where they discovered one of the worst cases of animal cruelty they say they've ever seen.
Police are still looking for the owner and say they could file animal cruelty charges against them.
Police responded to the home for a carbon monoxide issue, but when they got there, they found a 3-month-old pit bull trapped in a cage in the basement. The police chief tells Boston 25 News the puppy is supposed to weigh 30 pounds but he weighs half that. They said on a scale of one to five, with five being the worst, this puppy was a five.
Animal control now has the puppy recovering with a vet in Charlestown after he was severely malnourished.
