BOSTON — Two Boston University buildings near Kenmore Square were put on lockdown Tuesday afternoon when police chased a man into the MBTA tunnels, according to Boston police.
The two buildings, which included Myles Standish Hall, were put in lockdown, and it was eventually extended to include "all buildings in or near Kenmore Square."
The lockdown was lifted shortly after 2 p.m. and the area was declared safe after police caught the man they were looking for.
An airsoft gun was picked up by police in Kenmore Square and it officers said it was believed to be connected to the search.
A BU Emergency Alert was issued on the school's website by the schools' police department.
The buildings at 610 Beacon Street and 481 Commonwealth Avenue were ordered locked down.
According to the school, "the man from the previous incident is running in the train tunnels through Kenmore Square."
The MBTA Green Line was delayed in both directions due to the police action at Kenmore Square after Boston police responded to a report of a man with a gun along Beacon Street.
