ASHBURNHAM, Mass. — A coyote attacked an Ashburnham resident Sunday evening, according to the local police department.
The person apparently mistook the coyote for a medium-sized dog and approached it before they were bitten.
Police say coyotes frequent neighborhoods along wooded areas around towns and are asking people to keep close eyes on their pets.
“Coyotes vary in size, color and will wander into residential areas looking for food. Unknown dogs, foxes and coyotes should not be approached or fed for any reason,” Ashburnham police said in a Facebook post.
