PLYMOUTH, Mass. — Waves crashed hard against the break wall of Long Beach next to the Pilgrim Sands Hotel as people parked their vehicles within feet of it to take pictures.
Within moments the water was washing well over the wall into the parking lot toward Warren Avenue.
Just before 11:30 a.m. Boston 25 News was there as Plymouth Police told people to leave because of flooding anticipated to come with the high tide. Our crew left as well.
Overnight, Plymouth saw three to four inches of snowfall, according to public works director Jonathan Beder.
Route 3 was fully plowed down to the blacktop by 7 a.m., there was a changeover to rain that made some spots slick again, and later, more snow came.
A lengthy storm that caused headaches for some, but not plow drivers eager for the business.
“I think so far I’ve done better this one storm than I (had) done all of last year,” said Nathan Nobles, a Plymouth private plow contractor.
The town chose to keep its plow drivers and private contractors on throughout the afternoon due to additional snow anticipated and the possibility for temperatures to drop creating icy roads, Beder said.
