ROCKLAND, Maine (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A New England lobster processing company is coming under fire for a secretly taped video of some workers handling the crustaceans.
Linda Bean's Maine Lobster provided shellfish to a New York-based company that supplied places like T.D. Garden. It's a big account and now it's gone. That may have to do with a leaked video that shows claws being ripped off live lobsters.
According to Bangor Daily News, food service company Delaware North is not commenting on whether the video is responsible for them deciding to drop the lobster company. It was released in September by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.
The paper also reports PETA asked the district attorney to charge the Rockland company with animal cruelty, but that law did not cover animals without backbones.
Linda Bean's website says Linda is committed to the lobster industry in Maine and believes deeply in authenticity, sustainability, and traceability.
