QUINCY, Mass. — A 68-year-old man was killed after a taxi backed into him on Quincy Avenue Friday afternoon.
Quincy Police said the cab parked and let Robert Noyes out at his apartment complex. The cab driver did some paperwork in the car and Noyes walked behind the cab. Not knowing he was there, the cab driver put the car in reserve and hit Noyes.
"It's a terrible accident is what happened," said Capt. John Dougan with Quincy Police.
Noyes was taken to Boston Medical Center where he later died.
Aisha Khalid lives on the floor below Noyes; she said they were acquaintances, conversing often. In fact she says they had just spoken around 11 a.m. Friday before he left. Noyes wasn't feeling well and was going to the doctor.
"I'm so sorry, because he was such a nice person," said Khalid.
Noyes was well known in the building.
