Mansfield train station closed Thursday after deadly crash

MANSFIELD, Mass. — The Mansfield train station will be closed Thursday as police investigate a deadly accident on the track.

The crash occurred Wednesday afternoon when a man was hit by an Amtrak train. Police say the man had been trying to cross the tracks when he was struck.

Train traffic to the station was stopped due to the accident and replaced with shuttle buses.

MBTA Transit Police advised drivers to go to the Route 128 parking garage to catch the inbound Commuter Rail. On Thursday, there will be limited parking at Mansfield with limited bussing service to Sharon.

"All Providence Line passengers can expect delays traveling in-bound," MBTA Transit Police said. "Delays could extend into the PM rush."

Police said some vehicles parked in the lot were part of their investigation and are being held at the scene until the investigation is complete.
