PD: Child struck by car in Lowell

LOWELL, Mass. — A child was hit by a car in Lowell on Saturday morning, police said.

Lowell Police said the 5-year-old boy was playing in the yard in the area of 74 Hanks Street at the time of the accident.

Preliminary investigation suggests the child ran out in between two cars when he got hit.

The boy was alert and conscious, but as an abundance of caution due to his age a medflight was called to the scene.

His condition is unknown at this time, but officials said he "is expected to be okay."

At this point, no charges are pending against the driver, but the incident is currently under investigation.
