FRAMINGHAM, Mass. — On the third anniversary of the arrest of Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, a movie crew is filming scenes related to the arrest in Framingham.
The crew of 'Patriots Day' originally wanted to film on the actual street in Watertown, but was denied permission -- so the shoot was relocated.
Crews were spotted in the area with a replica of the boat Tsarnaev was found hiding in called Slip Away II.
Mark Wahlberg, playing the role of a fictional Boston Police Sergeant, was also in the neighborhood to film scenes alongside actual police officers as extras.
“The only difference, streets were completely empty. All the neighborhoods were locked down, residents were in the houses. Neighborhood very similar to Watertown,” Framingham Police Officer Ken Blass said.
One of the officer extras is Chris Wyman, a Pembroke police officer who searched door to door for Tsarnaev in 2013.
"They are doing a pretty good job keeping it realistic. Using a lot of us as extras to help out and keep it as real as possible," Wyman said.
