Over $100K worth of equipment stolen from Mansfield store

MANSFIELD, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A Mansfield store was robbed of over $100,000 worth of equipment and the thieves went as far as cutting a hole in the wall to get inside.

At about 7:44 a.m. Monday, Mansfield police got a call from a person at 280 School St. saying they believe someone attempted to break into one of the businesses overnight. When officers arrived, they saw a hole in the wall leading to the Simply Mac store.

After an investigation, detectives found that two unknown suspects wearing dark clothes with hoods, masks and gloves pried the back door open that led to a common hall. The suspects then cut a hole in the wall that led to the back room of Simply Mac and disabled the alarm system.

Detective Sergeant Larry Crossman gave us the details by phone, saying, "The suspects got in through a common door that they forced entry and actually cut through the walls into the Simply Mac store."

They were then able to gain access to a locked room full of store merchandise. Over $100,000 of Apple merchandise was taken and some damaged.

Police believe it was a calculated move by the thieves to break in during the Patriots game Sunday night.

The investigation remains ongoing and detectives are looking at a possible connection to a van stolen from a cleaning supply company in the area. Anyone with information is asked to call them.
