Oscar Pistorius sentenced to 6 years for murder

SOUTH AFRICA — The so-called "Blade Runner" Oscar Pistorius was sentenced to 6 years in prison Wednesday for killing his longtime girlfriend.

Pistorius shot and killed Reeva Steenkamp in his home back in 2013.

The amputee track star said he mistook Steenkamp for an intruder and feared for his life when he shot her through the bathroom door.

The courts didn't buy that excuse.

The crime calls for a minimum of 15 years, but the judge sentenced Pistorius to only six.
