SALEM, N.H. — On Sunday night, Salem, New Hampshire Police responded to a report of a fight breaking out at a wedding reception at Sayde's Bar and Grill.
When officers arrived they learned someone had assaulted some guests at the party.
The bar's owner's daughter, Jaime Sharkey, had helped to make the couple's wedding day memorable.
"It was gorgeous," Sharkey said. "You wouldn't recognize it if you walked in, it was transformed. It was a beautiful event."
Unfortunately, police were called to the party, and the calls threw officers off.
"It sounded like guys were in suits, wearing dress vests and ties," one officer said. "We knew it was some party."
According to police, one of the guests said the male suspect, identified as 24-year-old North Andover native Colby Dion choked another guest.
The guest was his girlfriend, who he allegedly strangled in the bathroom during the reception.
"Apparently, the victim, the girlfriend, let it be known to somebody that he had put his hands on her," Salem Police Sergeant Brendan Gleason said. "The girl had marks on her, she had been choked or strangled at some point or time."

Several guests told police they confronted the suspect before he fled on foot into nearby woods.
The officers called the Salem Police K9 unit for backup and located the suspect soon after.
Dion was taken into custody and taken to Salem Police Department and processed on one count of domestic violence, simple assault and one count of resisting arrest.
He was released on $1,000 cash bail and will be arraigned Monday.
