NSTAR preps for impending nor’easter

(FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) – As Massachusetts braces for Wednesday's nor'easter, NSTAR has already begun mobilizing its workforce in preparation for possible wind damage and related power outages.

NSTAR crews that had been working in Connecticut to help restore power to its sister utility company, Connecticut Light & Power, returned home on Tuesday, prior to the arrival of the impending severe weather.

"The high winds and heavy rain associated with the nor'easter forecasted to affect us beginning on Wednesday could likely result in power outages across our region," said Werner Schweiger, President of NSTAR Electric. "NSTAR crews, contractors and support personnel will be ready to respond to any damage caused by this storm."

NSTAR suggests that all customers prepare for power outages by assembling a storm kit in advance and making arrangements to protect themselves and their families.

NSTAR also reminds all customer that while back-up emergency generators can be very useful during power outages, it's crucial to personal safety and the safety of others - including NSTAR line crews - that they be installed and operated properly.
