NH police officer charged with DUI, reckless conduct for car crash

MANCHESTER, N.H. (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) – A police officer employed by the city of Manchester was charged with driving under the influence after he crashed into the back of another vehicle while traveling at a high rate of speed on I-93 South in Manchester.

David Connare, of Manchester, was charged with reckless conduct and driving under the influence for the two-car crash that occurred on Tuesday around 7 p.m. near Exit 6. He is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 10 to face these charges.

According to New Hampshire State Police, both Connare and Heather Oregan, of Hudson, N.H., were traveling south on I-93 when Connare crashed into the back of Oregan's vehicle. The impact pushed Oregan off to the right side of the road, striking the bridge abutment. Her car came to a final rest at the merge with Route 293 North/Route 101 West.

Connare's vehicle veered off to the left upon impact across both lanes of I-93 coming to final rest in the middle of the high speed lane.

Both drivers were transported to Elliott Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

An investigation concluded that both alcohol and speed were factors in the crash. The accident occurred while Connare was off-duty and in his personal vehicle.

The highway was closed for roughly 20 minutes after the accident.
