NH man asks gamer friend to call 911 during home invasion

RAYMOND, N.H. — Police in New Hampshire are searching for two men they said beat and bound a man during a home invasion.

Jack Reid, Jr. said he was playing video games in his Raymond home Tuesday night when two men in masks burst through his front door.

"I just started screaming to my Playstation, because I was playing with my best friend, and I told him to call the cops, that I was being attacked and robbed," Reid told FOX25.

Reid said the men used pepper spray while they assaulted him, and then tried to restrain him with duct tape, but he fought back.

"I thought I was going to die, but you just have to fight. There's no excuse," Reid said.

Reid said he feared for his life when one suspect put him in a choke hold, and he began to lose consciousness.

That's when Reid said his four year old pit bull stepped in to help.

"I looked over, and he was biting the guy, and I felt the pressure of the neck going and I jumped up and tried to get out," Reid said.

Reid said he escaped and ran for help, while the suspects grabbed sports memorabilia and then jumped in Reid's Dodge Charger to escape.

By Wednesday night, police had recovered the car but said the suspects were still on the run.

In an odd twist, Reid's father, Jack Reid, Senior, was also the victim of a violent attack that took his life.

In 2005, prosecutors said a local businessmen hired a group of men to beat Reid, Sr. to death behind a barn in Derry, NH.

Reid, Jr. told FOX25 it was the thought of his own father's death that gave him the power to fight back.

"I thought about those things, and what happened to him, and when they started to duct tape me that's when I realized it was time to fight or die. That's when I got away, thank God," Reid said.
