REVERE, Mass. — Federal authorities said they arrested a man from New York on Friday in connection with an armed robbery at a Bank of America in Revere last month.

David J. Hattersly, 45, faces one count of armed bank robbery.

Court documents state a person, later determined to be Hattersly, walked into the Bank of America on American Legion Highway around 1:30 p.m. on August 19. He handed the teller a threatening note and then pointed what appeared to be a black semi-automatic gun at her. The teller handed him cash from her drawer and he ran off.

Bank employees told police Hattersly escaped on an MBTA bus. A short time later, a person matching Hattersly description was found in a nearby neighborhood with a large sum of cash and a black pistol, which was later determined to be a BB gun.

Police arrested Hattersly and determined he had outstanding warrants in New York.

Prosecutors said an audit conducted after the robbery determined Hattersly got away with more than $13,000.

Hattersly was detained following an initial court appearance on Friday. He faces up to 25 years in prison, up to three years of supervised release and a fine of up to $250,000.
