UPTON, Mass. — The National Weather Service sent a survey team to determine if a possible tornado touched down in four towns.

NWS confirmed on Thursday afternoon that two early morning tornadoes were confirmed in Worcester County, both with maximum winds around 100 mph.

The first tornado was tracked from Douglas to Northbridge, passing through Uxbridge as well with a 4.4 mile length and maximum width of 200 yards.

The second tornado was recorded in Upton with a length of 1.0 miles and maximum width of 100 yards.

The team first arrived in Douglas and said there are as many as 12 damaged houses. The fire department said no one was hurt.

After completing its survey in Douglas, the team was headed to Uxbridge, Northbridge and then Upton. They were expected to release their results on Thursday afternoon.

Main Street in Upton was closed to most traffic early Thursday because of extensive wind damage.

Upton Emergency Management said power has been restored to the town except to any of the buildings or homes that have damage to service connections from the street to the house.

Part of a porch roof blew off a building and landed on the opposite side, wedging itself up against the building.

Mangled fences, downed trees and debris is strewn throughout Upton, with National Grid on scene for power outages and downed wires.

No injuries have been reported.
