NATICK, Mass. — A four-legged officer has been going above and beyond to catch the bad guys this month.
Natick Police said that Officer Mabardy was driving home from work last week when he heard of call for a domestic incident over the radio. The suspect had fled on foot and Mabardy decided to help search, deploying K-9 Axel.
Axel tracked westbound toward Framingham and into a wooded area and discovered the suspect hiding in the brush. Mabardy gave warnings, ordering the suspect to come out or Axel would be deployed. The suspect exited the brush and he was taken into custody.
Earlier in the month, K-9 Axel and Mabardy were called to a narcotic sweep of a car. While searching the car, Axel alerted on the seams near the rear of the cup holder area. Officers removed the cupholders and discovered a hidden compartment, holding a baggie of marijuana and two grams of crack cocaine.
“Outstanding work Axel. Take the weekend off. Just kidding. See you at roll call this afternoon!” wrote Natick Police on Facebook.
